[1] Complete quests. Demand honor in exchange for gold coins from Lord Richard Northburgh or Grand Vizier Al Zahir through the diplomacy screen. (See Buying Honor, below.) Level up and expand your cities. This gives set amounts of honor for each level, for example, a Metropolis will always give 850 honor. Sell goods to Lord Richard Northburgh or Grand Vizier Al Zahir at their warehouse.

If you select their building to start trading, there is a thin bar below their portrait. Hover the mouse over it and a tool tip shows how much trading is needed for an honor boost (buy or sell). Both the amount of trade required and the amount of honor earned grow through use. There's no cooldown; you can blow through several levels in one big sale. For more details see Sales and Honor, below. Build a Tournament arena and let the crowds roar.

See Buying Honor, below. Trade back items that cost honor for half of their value. In this respect, you can consider, e.g., Ibn al Hakim's Academy of Wisdom, Cuno von Rembold's Excavation Site, or anyone else who provides Items or quests a source of Honor - for items you don't want to keep. So try to link up to them. there's no harm if you fail a quest, and you may get a real nice Item. Complete monuments such as the Historic warehouses (500 honor), Imperial cathedral, or Sultan's mosque (1000 honor each). Supply bread to Benedicta (Place of Pilgrimage neutral site). You can use honor for: Buying Items from the warehouses of Lord Richard Northburgh, Grand Vizier Al Zahir, or the Corsairs. Gaining Attainments in the Attainments menu (F10). Buying an auxilary fleet from Lord Richard Northburgh or Grand Vizier Al Zahir through the Diplomacy screen. Exchanging honor for money with Lord Richard Northburgh or Grand Vizier Al Zahir through the Diplomacy screen.Buying HonorAs seen above, there are many ways to acquire honor.

Many are hard to quantify, but two can be readily compared:Demanding Honor through diplomacy is fairly straightforward; you buy honor with money. Lord Northburgh and Grand Vizier Al Zahir are identical in this respect (but separate; you can demand from them both at the same time). To Demand Honor, activate Diplomacy (F7), click on their portraits, and then click on the hand dropping money. On the surface, it looks like you get the same amount of honor per gold for all three choices, but because the small gift is capped at 75% success, it is not as good a deal.

Also, the large gift recovers faster. All in all, the larger the gift you can buy, the better. The amount of honor you can buy depends on the highest class of Occidental population that you have: With Nobles, the large Generous gift gets you 300 Honor, With Patricians, you get 150 Honor, With Citizens, 80 Honor, If you only have Peasants, you only get 40 with the large Generous gift. The medium-sized Appropriate gift gets you half the Honor shown above for the large Generous gift for each population class, and the small Modest gift gets you a fourth (rounded down).

Thus, if you make a small Modest honor demand when Patricians are your highest class, you will get 37 honor (150/4, rounded down). The price for the large Generous gift is all of your current balance, with a maximum of 12,500 gold and a minimum of 5,000 gold. (If you have less than 5,000, you can't buy it.) The medium and small gifts are one-half and one-fourth of what the Generous gift would currently cost you, respectively (so you can never buy any of them if you have less than 1,250, the minimum divided by 4).Once your economy is thriving - you have Nobles and plenty of money (>12,500) - this is what Demanding Honor looks like:DonationGoldHonorMax.

ChanceEffective Max. HonorCooldown [2]Gold / HonorMax. Honor / Minute [2]Modest3,1257575%56.2530 minutes55.561.88Appropriate6,250150100%15030 minutes41.675.00Generous12,500300100%30024 minutes41.6712.50In theory, you could time your demands so they fall right before a big sale or right after you spend a lot of money so that you take advantage of the sliding scale. But due to the fact that you don't get the full 300 Honor until you have Guest of the bedouins anno 1404 chapter 5, and you (hopefully) have nowhere near as few as 5,000 (or even 12,500) gold then, players often just wait until they have Nobles and plenty of money, and then buy the Generous gift as close to every 24 minutes as they can.A note to newbies: Don't Demand Honor unless and until 12,500 gold is petty change to you (well over 100,000 gold, and plenty rolling in), so you don't burn through your starting cash and hit some hard times.

Build your economy first. Once you're rich, Honor is much easier to get.Tournaments are another way to "buy" honor, but there are some hidden costs. Each arena takes 45 minutes to recover (regardless of tournament size) at regular game speed. The Honor shown here is for islands with 5,300 population; islands with no population only get a third of this value (see Tournament arena for more details):SizeGoldWeaponsProvisionsMaintenanceTotal Gold*HonorTotal Gold / HonorHonor / MinuteProvincial2,000009002,90015019.333.33Grand4,0001509005,68030018.936.67Spectacular10,0003010**90014,14060023.5713.33*Total Gold is the stated cost plus maintenance (20 gold/minute times 45 minutes) plus the cost of additional goods, relative to active selling to NPCs (weapons sell for 52 gold/ton and provisions for 168 gold/ton).The small tournament costs a little more per honor relative to the medium tournament, due to the hefty maintenance charge relative to the tournament cost.

The large tournament costs the most of all per honor, due to the expensive provisions - but also earns honor the fastest. In summary, don't Demand Honor or hold Tournaments early in a game, unless you know exactly what you're doing. If you're a veteran player, you'll know when to risk your money when you have little. Otherwise, wait until these venues are easy, then use them to the hilt. They are both about the same (12.50 or 13.33 Honor per minute) when you are flourishing and can easily afford to use them maximally.Sales and HonorEach time you sell to or buy from Northburg or Al Zahir, you approach milestones where honor is granted.

The milestones can be readily seen by hovering your cursor directly under their portrait on their info pane. Sales and honor granted are:Sale #HonorNorthburgAl ZahirGoldGold/HonorGoldGold/Honor1101,800180.01,600160.021590060.080053.33251,80072.01,60064.04402,70067.52,40060.05654,50069.24,00061.561057,20068.66,40061.0717011,70068.810,40061.2827518,90068.716,80061.1944530,60068.827,20061.110+44549,500111.244,00098.9Cumulative1,595129,600115,200From ten sales on, you always get 445 honor for the milestones shown. At every milestone, Northburg charges a little more than Al Zahir; the vizier gives a 12.5% honor bonus per gold, at every point.

So, once you have enough ships to spare to go farther to Al Zahir, you will reap a little more honor for what you sell. These sales milestones only apply to active sales, where you go to their harbor and buy or sell. You do not get "honor credit" for passive trading (where their ships buy or sell at your warehouses), nor when you demand honor.Although passive trading earns 2.5 times as much gold per ton as active sales, you might consider actively selling goods if you want honor more than gold.

Still, demanding honor and tournaments are cheaper ways to buy honor, per 3DS DS iOS PC PS3 PS4 PSP Vita Wii U Xbox 360 Xbox One MoreSystems Android Ouya Arcade PlayStation Dreamcast PlayStation Guest of the bedouins anno 1404 chapter 5 Game Boy Advance Saturn GameCube Super Nintendo Genesis Wii NES Xbox Nintendo 64 And 96 More. The Grand Vizier's Palace was like paradise, yet the peace was deceiving. Lord Northburgh was still assumed lost and, in the absence of the Emperor, Lucius posed a deadly threat. So it was no surprise to anyone when, a few days later alarming news reached the Grand Vizier's Court."Starting in-game cutsceneGrand Vizier Al Zahir has traveled deep into the Oriental territorial waters and is now convinced they are safe from Cardinal Lucius.

Marie d'Artois's subject Phillipe Lamour arrives and tells you with great trepidation that Cardinal Lucius is preparing for a retaliatory strike at the homeland.

Marie d'Artois asks you to inform the Emperor and returns home to face Cardinal Lucius. Grand Vizier Al Zahir suggests that you accommodate the refugees from Edenisle in one of his Bedouin settlements and that you then leave for the Emperor's sickbed. Mission goal: The Emperor's cousinFind Lord Northburgh to be admitted to see the Emperor.IntroductionThis is actually an easy chapter on a small map. This chapter focuses on building an oriental settlement and interacting with neutral powers to complete quests.Tip: Remember to set up your tool-bars for quick access to buildings and functions like slowing down and speeding up the game.Tip: Also remember to use hot-keys for your ships, such as Ctrl-1 for your flagship. One first thing you can do is demolish an unnecessary oriental market building the game starts you with.

For some reason, the game is keen to start you with market buildings next to marketplaces or bazaars. This isn't a good plan because houses do not require a nearby market building, and this building is also taking up space where you could be building houses. So this oriental market building is just costing you 30 gold in maintenance and you get nothing in return.

Demolish it. Market building.Tip: The final and hardest sidequest in this chapter requires you have 1,740 envoys in your city and have reached the highest diplomatic rank. Therefore, it's best to keep building and expanding your settlement as you play this chapter, even if it doesn't seem like you need to at the time. Also, do not waste your honor points on random items.

Save them all up for Guest of the bedouins anno 1404 chapter 5 diplomatic scrolls to give to Al Zahir to increase your rank. Easy quest: Help from on highSail your flagship to the northern island in the center of the map where the Emperor is staying. At this point you'll be given the mission objective of rescuing Northburgh and having him visit the Emperor.Easy quest: Oriental flavourBuild at least one date plantation.

The game suggests building a small noria to grow dates in the desert, but you can also plant the dates in the oasis terrain on your island and not use costly norias. See the fertilities guide for more information.Tip: Remember you don't need to build the more expensive oriental market buildings. You can build occidental market buildings instead, even on oriental islands.

This is highly recommended at first, particularly on hard where tools and gold are in short supply at first. Date farm.Easy quest: Searching for CluesHildegard asks you to seek out three people in the region to ask if they know where Northburgh is.Izmir is located on your island, so just click on his tower. Also build a road to his tower so that you'll have access to him for some later quests. You'll need to build a market building close to the tower. Again, use the cheaper occidental market building.Sail to the northeast and click on Al Rashid's fortress once you see the island he's on.Finally, sail to the northwest and click on Hekata's Old Tree once you see the island she's on.

She'll ask for 5t milk, which starts the next quests. A goat milk oasis.Al Zahir will tell you that milk comes from goat farms.

Again, the quest journal says you might need a noria, but that's wrong.Just build the goat farm on the oasis terrain, which operates at 100% fertility, which is superior to desert you make fertile using a small noria.See the terrain guide again for details.Easy quest: The BarterBring Hekata 5t milk!

It may be necessary to deny your nomads access to milk temporarily so you can quickly load 5t on your ship. Or you can click on your warehouse and quickly transfer the milk to your ship as it's produced before your people can swipe it. Either way works. Be sure to cancel the denial of milk after you load your 5t.Also note, you will have to build a warehouse on Hekata's island and a road connection to your Old Tree before you can give her the milk.

So be sure to also load up about 3t wood and 2t tools to build this warehouse! The game doesn't tell you this.Easy quest: The EncryptionFirst, load the "Message in a bottle" item onto your ship from the warehouse on Hekata's island.

Now deliver to your home warehouse. If you've already built a road to Izmir, the quest will complete upon transfer to your warehouse. Otherwise, build a road connection now.Easy quest: The MapBefore we can draw a map for the primary quest, you must acquire the proper goods. You first need indigo, which is produced from indigo farms.

However, you need 295 nomads and 100 prestige (Guest of the Bedouins rank) to gain access to indigo farms. So expand your settlement by building a number of new nomad houses and buy a "Noble appreciation" item for 50 honor points (or a "Princely attention" item for 150 honor points) from Hildegard and deliver it to Al Zahir.Tip: When you run out of tools, buy more from Al Zahir.

When you run out of wood, buy more from Hildegard. Although you could build one or two lumberjack's huts in the oasis land on your island to avoid trips to Hildegard.Once your settlement reaches Village status and you've delivered the rank item, build an indigo farm in the oasis area of your island. The second required good is paper. Buy 5t from Al Zahir since you cannot produce it yourself.Once you have bought 5t paper and have produced 6t indigo, you'll finish the quest. Indigo farm in oasis.Easy quest: A daring PlanLoad the 5t paper and 6t indigo onto your ship if it's not already and sail to the Assassins' fortress in the northeast to map the island.

Now take the map to Hildegard.Easy sidequest: News from MarieThis sidequest is easily missed and/or failed!Be very careful to read the instructions so you complete it!Sail directly north of your main island to find Phillipe Lamour's island. Click on the warehouse and he'll ask for 20t dates and 20t milk to help supply Marie back home. Deliver said goods.Medium sidequest: SensationalThis sidequest is easily missed and/or failed!Be very careful to read the instructions so you complete it!Click on Izmir's tower on your home island.

He'll ask for metals, specifically 10t Iron ore and 10t Gold ore. Fortunately, Hildegard sells these metals, strangely. Buy them from her and deliver them to your warehouse. You'll be given "The Scholars' Abacus" item, which allows more nomads to ascend to envoys for a short period of time.

Activate this item in your warehouse strong room when your upgrading your settlement for the following few quests.Tip: This quest can be started a bit later, but there's a cutoff you must start it by.

So to be safe don't delay and do this simple sidequest. Medium quest: Noble KnottingAl Zahir wants your settlement to expand and for that Full text of " Anno 1404 Dawn of Discovery PrimaGuides"See other formatsPRIMA*'freegamemanudls.comWritten by Joe DodsonPrima GamesAn Imprint of Random House, Inc.3000 Lava Ridge Court, Suite 100Roseville, CA 95661www.primagames.comThe Prima Games logo is a registered trademark of Random House, Inc.,registered in the United States and other countries.

I have a quest to make a paper mill and indigo farms so I can decipher the document. Plus some side quests also require paper and indigo.

The problem is, I can't make indigo farms, because they require 100 prestige with the Grand Vizier Al Zahir, and I only had 50 as of the start of this chapter. My prestige was at 100 in the last chapter (and I was able to make the indigo and silk farms needed for carpets).I have done the other quests for the Vizier that I have gotten thus far in this chapter, but they did not improve my prestige to 100.

Now I am stuck, because all the quests I need to do to progress require that I have indigo farms. I sell and buy things from him, and he always seems happy about it, but I don't see anything about gaining prestige as a result.

How else do you get prestige besides doing trade and quests? The manual is not very helpful to me here. Also, how can I mine quartz? I need it for my glassworks, along with potash. And many things (like a printing press) need glass. I see quartz mines around on the map. But the only way I've been able to get quartz so far is to purchase it from the Grand Vizier's warehouse. I don't see a quartz mine even among the "grayed out" buildings under any of the tabs. Thanks I am on chapter 5 of the campaign game.

I don't see a quartz mine even among the "grayed out" buildings under any of the tabs. Thanks I'm stuck here, too.

I didn't know about the prestige thing, but I can't figure out how to mine quartz. I tried putting my glass smelter next to the mine and built a road to the quartz deposit. The other mines (ore, salt) don't work on it. It's just a mystery. Also, is this a bug-on the little bar that shows what resources the island is capable of producing, the quartz seems to be clay. You probably have a prestige reward somewhere that you didn't use.

Check all of your ships and your warehouses' strongboxes and see if you can find it, then sail it to the Vizier's island. Also for Quartz you have to get the 3rd rank of Oriental privileges and like 240 Nomads or somesuch before you can build Quartz mines.Quartz won't show up on the Fertility bar because it is related to mines and is not planted.

If there is a mine, you can produce quartz, end of story. Just get those diplo ranks and nomads. I finally figured out that I can just buy quartz. Eventually I saw the quartz mine option appear when I reached a certain status, but you don't much glass yet in this chapter. It's a good thing I'm doing this campaign mode first.

There's a lot of stuff in this game. I was stuck on the prestige/indigo thing too, but eventually I noticed I did have one of those scrolls on a ship of mine after a battle (pretty sure it was after a battle, was one of the quests anyway).I set up the island in the north east with Potash and things to produce glass there.

i've got my first nobles now, huzzah Yeah I finally noticed I had one of those scrolls in my warehouse strongbox area on one of my nomad settlement islands. That did the trick. As for the quartz mine, I learned some buildings are completely hidden (not even visible as grayed out buildings) until you reach a certain level of prestige. It's strange how you can see some in advance (so you know what you'll need t activate them) and not others. Thanks for the advice. It's a fun game, but I am still learning as I bumble through the campaign.
